While surfing the internet I came across this article where the writer points out the benefices and reasons why some women are looking into a single motherhood.

This is not the same situation as being a single mom because the father left or teenage pregnancy. In those two situations, you didn’t plan raise a baby alone, and you were not prepared for the challenge. However, when you make the decision to be a single mom, you know the consequences and you know it is not going to be hard. You have the advantage of knowing, you are on your own.

I don’t think experts should compare a child raise by one parent because the other one left and a child raise by a mom who decided not to have a partner.  In the first case, the mom might be looking for a father figure while the kid is growing up but in the other case the mother is focus on the well-being of the kid. If the kid ends with a trauma, I guess more researches have to be done before coming to that conclusion.

Something else I read in that article was the reason why women are looking into single motherhood. One of them was the lack of interest from men to have kids and the problem that men don’t have a natural clock and women do. The older we get the harder to get pregnant. In addition, many men are expecting women to take care of the kid, the household and him. Many women are not willing to do so; we live in a world where women and men should share responsibilities.

There are many good guys out there who are willing to have a kid and family. However, we as women can’t expend our entire life looking for mister Right because the clock is ticking and the time is running.

We should try to raise our boys to be good men.
