I didn’t know the new version of Windows Media Player (Version 12) can play high definition videos, for example M2TS format. I have a few videos on that format in my computer because Boyfriend has a video camera that saves the videos in that weird format.

I change to Windows 7 Ultimate a month ago, However a few days, while looking through my files I saw my M2TS videos and realized that Windows Media Player was recognizing them.I used Media Player Classic – Home Cinema for M2TS format. The only free software that can play the M2TS format (as far as I know).  If you wanted to play that video in any other player, you needed to change the format to AVI, which is the easiest way, but the quality is not good though (the sound can be delay ). It also takes a long-time to do a change from M2TS to AVI. So if you have a long video, be prepare to spend ages….

Therefore, I’m pretty happy to know that Windows Media Player 12 plays that format! It was about time.

It was also a bad call form Sony, not to add a player with the video camera HDR-SR1, knowing that most players were unable to play M2TS.
