Shorter days in England
filed in Country on Nov.21, 2010
In Panama starts to get dark around 6 pm and by 7pm it is completely dark. However, here in England starts to get dark around 4 pm and it is completely dark at 5 pm.
While I was living in the USA, I never experience that radical change in light or in other words, the days didn’t look that short.
I was living at the South and I don’t really remember the days getting dark at 4 pm. I do remember one time I was at the airport in Atlanta and I look outside the window and there was light, but it was already 9 pm!
Panama doesn’t have short days or long days, they all look the same. Boyfriend says the different is so small that it is hard to notice. Anyway, In Panama we don’t bother about long or short days. I guess if the difference was like it is in England then we would care. If one day starts to get dark at 4pm in Panama people would think it is the end of the world!
The day it really hit me, all this getting dark at 4pm was two weeks ago while I was on campus, doing some homework at the library. I usually stay on campus until 5 or 6 pm, I’m more productive if I doing my homework at the library, I like how quite it is in there. Anyways, back to the subject. Two weeks ago I was leaving the library and it was completely dark, it looked like it was 7 or 8. I was all confused; because I was sure I haven’t expended that long at the library. And the worse thing was that I was supposed to meet up with Boyfriend at 6:30 for a date!
It was only 5pm.
Boyfriend used to mention about how dark it gets in England during November (For the record Boyfriend doesn’t like November). I thought he was joking or perhaps it wasn’t really dark. I was actually imagining a going-to-rain darkness. But I was wrong; it is a going-to-bed darkness lol.
