Looking for an Afro-Caribbean salon in Oxford.

I made my hair permanently straight last august, I think.., while I was in Panama with my parents. After many years with my curly hair and only making it straight by visiting a hairdresser and having a blower, I finally made the decision to move all the way to the slavery side.
I only paid around $20 dollars to get my hair straight. My hair is not short but it is not too long either, however, I have a lot of hair. I think, I was once told my hair is thick…
My sister and I have a lot of hair (or tick hair), many people wish they had my type of hair, but let me tell you, it is not always as good as you might think. First, you will pay double to get something done in your hair just because the hairdresser will use more products in your hair. Second, it will take you a long time to have a style done in your hair; you might end having the same style for months, because it is just too much work to change it.
Anyhow, my hair has grown and it is time to get the roots done. This is the reason why I think is slavery, because now that my hair is permanently straight every time my hair grows to a certain length I need a retouch of the relaxer on the new hair so it doesn’t look wavy at the beginning and straight at the end!
Just like looking for a proper doctor I need to look for a proper hairdresser for my hair, somebody who know how to put relaxer without burning your scalp (it has happened to me once, it was not a nice experience).
It shouldn’t be that difficult because here in Oxford the afro-Caribbean community is quite big. If I was leaving somewhere up north I guess I would have a big problem.
On Friday I visited a hairdresser near my flat (and afro-Caribbean one), it looked nice; however, I was shock by the price. They said it will cost £45 (around $63!!) to get my roots done! Because I have a lot of hair (told you it is not always good to have a lot of hair).
Compared to the price I paid in Panama ($20) and I got my entire hair done, it is a lot of money for only getting my roots done. I wonder how much they would have charged for getting my entire hair straight (£100!!).
I will visited others hairdresser in Cowley road, I hope to find something cheaper but good.
I’m not too optimistic
