Finding a Part Time Job in Oxford

There are many full time jobs advertised each day on newspapers and online papers, however part time jobs are not advertise as much as full time jobs.
It took me around two months to find a part time job with flexible hours. As a student I usually have very weird schedules each semester. And as an international student I can only work 20 hours a week. But if you are a good student you can only work in reality 15 hours a week unless you are a loner with no social live or boyfriend.
The odds are very low when you’re looking for a part time job and have so many restrictions.
But don’t feel sad, just like in everything in life perseverance and improvement can help you find a good part time job.
Here in oxford you can find part time jobs in the dailyinfo.co.uk, however the competitions are very high. Boyfriend has a friend from his work who posted an ad and she received A LOT of applications from a very small text ad.
There are some recruiting companies, but I’m not sure how they work. In panama, we also have recruiting companies and the only thing you need to do is leave your CV, fill out a form and sometimes you might need to do a sociological test. Then they give you a call and have an interview with you and tell you about the jobs they have which match your criteria. I guess it should work similar than in Panama.
If you’re looking for a part time job in a fast food restaurant then you need to visited their websites, they usually have part time jobs under the career menu.
I found my job at the university talent bank. You can also try your university career department sometimes companies only advertise on university talent banks because they need students.
More than 95% of part time jobs are not advertised. That was the first thing I was told when I arrived in Oxford, which is not very promising for a new international student… However it’s not impossible to find a part time job, it only takes a long time.
