I spent almost three months in the UK and I read three books while I was there, one of three books was Welcome to Everytown A Journey into the English Mind by Julian Baggini. While I was in the UK, I saw for the first time the Macdonald Monopoly Game, which consists of small cards that come with specifics Mac-combos and sometimes you can get more cards if you make the meal large. The cards look like the ones from the real monopoly game and represent properties from the game. The most expensive properties in the game are the combination you need to win the big price, Park lane and Mayfair. This year the big price was 500,000 pounds. Read the rest of this entry »

Biking for the first time in Oxford

Two weeks ago, I bought a used bike for only 45 pounds. It is a girly bike (it is not pink though) with six gears and the frame is big enough for my height. I am 5’10.

The town looks different from a bike perspective and I think many people would agree with me. It is not the same to look at the town through the bus window than to do it while cycling. Even if you take the same road the bus takes to get to town. For instance, you would never know there is a hill at the beginning of Morrell Avenue (coming from town and taking bus #15) unless you bike, because when you are inside the bus, the hill is not big enough for the passenger to notice it. Last February 2010 I traveled to Sevenoaks with boyfriend, we stayed for one week; while he was working, I walked around town and traveled to London.

The train station is located a walking distance from The Moorings. If you arrived by train, London Rd will be in front of the train station (left to right), Hitchen Hatch Lane meets London Rd right in front the train station, walk through that lane (let’s than 3 min) and at your right you will find The Moorings Hotel.
